SCUBA: As a beginner, which kit should I buy first?
I have my Open Water and logged enough hours base to start thinking about how start buying my own equipment. What should be first on my list, and it is logical to follow? I wear glasses and my girlfriend is treating me to a pair of prescription for my birthday, so no need to wrry about them. I guess wetsuit, fins, BCD, regulator, dive computer / watch? What a knife of good quality or is this not really necessary in my time (I'm thinking about wreck diving in the near future, however, thanks).! PS, I am a man, 23 and in the UK (Bristol).
When gear to buy, do not be afraid to do some research, visit the manufacturer's website several. Granted, everyone will tell you that your team is the best but look at the various features and benefits that the team has to offer. Make a list of types of diving which currently make and types of diving you may see yourself doing in the future. Do you have the part you are looking to meet those needs. Realizing that no manufacturer can afford the luxury of making a bad regulator, but it is possible that some of the "bells and whistles" more or less adequate for their needs. Try to maintain at least the regulator, Occy and computer from a manufacturer as this makes the service look much easier. Having to take his master regulator of a dive shop for its annual accounts and Occy and equipment to another can get tedious and costly. If budget permits, check for package prices. Packages usually consist of a regulator, Occy, BCD and gauges / computer and are generally cheaper in the long run than buying piece by piece. At all costs, avoid buying used as any and all manufacturers' warranties are for original owner and are void when they bought secondhand. If you buy online or in a physical "brick and mortar" check dive shop Web sites of manufacturers to ensure they are authorized to sell and service the gear. If they are and buy them, then it is considered second hand. Check serviceabilty team. If you have a problem outside the country will have trouble getting his team adjusted or fixed? If you had to buy from scratch my advice in order of importance would be: 1. Mask (give your girlfriend a kiss on getting the recipe, because it's much better to see while scuba diving does not), fins (boots, if necessary) and snorkel (you will be prepared for snorkeling and diving can be rented if) 2. Regulator (with Occy and measuring equipment) This part is her life support and now you is prepared to dive (both at home and abroad) and still can be rented BCD and other gear as needed. 3. If purchased separately then a BCD (tanks and other fixed fishing gear can be rented) 4. A bag of equipment. 5. A dive knife or tool that is, the cutting tool 6. Exposure suit (suitable the environment that he jumped in the water more iecold or hot) If the majority of diving is cold water and then get the suit cold water before putting on a suit hot water. 7. Diving cylinder (s) If the majority of diving you do is local. 8. This is the final weights in the list to the suit because the exhibition is divided and has dove in with all this for a while, the necessary weight is fluctuating. Weights purchase if, again, most of their diving is local. I do not think I missed anything, but if you have questions about the progress of the immediate verification of art and video guides on how to fit into the team the following links.
