If I were diving and lightning hit the water above me, how deep I have to be to not feel the impact?
Freshwater or salt not matter in this scenario. What matters is whether you're actually diving or on the surface. A diver has nothing to worry about. Just a few meters to be down. The charge travels along the water surface and not go down. If you are on the surface, so the news that would be wrong. A diver died this really so only a few weeks ago. The bolt hit the tank directly as he was swimming area.
